Overview

The large studio offers playback over 12 Meyer loudspeakers.

Routing of in- and outputs is provided (digitally) by a SuperCollider based application, simply called the matrix, which is run on a dedicated computer system (also referred to as The Matrix).

A work station computer offers access to some licensed and free software for audio production and digital signal processing. It is connected to the matrix by a MADI audio card, which offers 64 in- and outputs (respectively) for a sample rate of 44.1 or 48kHz and 32 in- and outputs (respectively) for 88.2 or 96kHz.

External computers can interface the studio using an RME Fireface UFX. An RME Micstasy offers eight microphone preamps.

All hardware is clocked by a central wordclock in EN326 (i.e. all hardware uses the same sample rate).

Usage

Power-On

  1. Turn power key to 1
  2. Switch off Wordclock in EN326
  3. Switch on Matrix system for EN324
  4. Switch on Wordclock, when the boot sound of Matrix system is heard
  5. Switch on work station
  6. Switch on loudspeakers

Power-Off

  1. Switch off the loudspeakers
  2. Shut down work station (if applicable) and matrix (if applicable)
  3. Turn power key to 0

Change Sample Rate

  1. Power-On
  2. Change the sample rate in the wordclock menu called mode operation basic clock to the desired frequency
  3. Change sample rate for MADI MADI cards on the matrix
  4. Power-Off
  5. Power-On
