Overview
The small studio offers playback over 8 Meyer and 21 Genelec loudspeakers, that can use the support of two LFEs.
Routing of in- and outputs is provided (digitally) by a SuperCollider based application, simply called the matrix, which is run on a dedicated computer system (also referred to as The Matrix).
A work station computer offers access to some licensed and free software for audio production and digital signal processing. It is connected to the matrix by a MADI audio card, which offers 64 in- and outputs (respectively) for a sample rate of 44.1 or 48kHz and 32 in- and outputs (respectively) for 88.2 or 96kHz.
External computers can interface the studio using a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (1st Gen). An RME OctaMic offers eight microphone preamps.
All hardware is clocked by a central wordclock in EN326 (i.e. all hardware uses the same sample rate).
Usage
Power-On
- Turn power key to 1
- Switch on Matrix system for EN325
- Switch on work station
- Switch on the HDMI Switch 325: MacPro -> OutA - In1, OutB - In2 ; Linux -> OutA - In3 (LED broken), OutB - In4 (both can be mixed)
- Switch on loudspeakers
Power-Off
- Switch off the loudspeakers
- Shut down work station (if applicable) and matrix (if applicable)
- Turn power key to 0
- Switch off the HDMI Switch 325
Change Sample Rate
- Power-On
- Change the sample rate at the SSL SX Converter by pressing the SAMPLERATE button (44.1kHz and 48kHz are supported)
- Change sample rate for MADI MADI cards on the matrix: System Preferences -> Madixtreme -> Samplerate Selection (for both cards)
- Restart the Matrix Computer
